Model Rail Scotland 2012 Competitions

The organising team at Model Rail Scotland would like to invite modellers from throughout the United Kingdom, or overseas, to participate in these awards. The only requirement is that participants bring their entry to Stand 1 at Model Rail Scotland by midday on Friday the 24th February 2012 (the first day of the event) to enter. Judging will take place over the show weekend.

Model Rail Scotland is one of the United Kingdom’s biggest and most prestigious model railway events and to reflect this we now have three awards available. These awards are as follows:

Best Locomotive

The entrant is required to submit a scratch built, kit built or modified model locomotive. The award is not scale, type or nationality specific, nor is it era specific. We would like to see models which display workmanship, an eye for detail and a love of the hobby.

Best Item of Rolling Stock

Again, this category is not scale, type or nationality specific, nor is it era specific. The item modelled must be a scratch built, kit built or modified item of rolling stock which, in real life, was not powered.

Best Scenic or Architectural Model

Entrants are required to enter a scenic or architectural feature which, in the opinion of the judges, displays modelling ability, realism and achievement. Again, this category is not scale, type or nationality specific, nor is it era specific.

The winner in each of the above categories will receive a prestigious Model Rail Scotland Engraved Cut Glass Crystal to keep permanently as a reminder of his or her achievement.

The organisers at Model Rail Scotland would ask all potential entrants to start work on their projects now. All entries will be on public display at stand 1 throughout the show.

We really do appreciate the work and time involved as well as the skills necessary to produce entries for these competition categories.
